Texas Race for the Cure title
Robin Ritchey of Murphy credited cheers of encouragement
with helping her capture the breast cancer
survivor title at Saturday's 20th Komen North Texas Race
for the Cure.
"I didn't know if I could keep running," said
Ritchey, 43, who usually takes walk breaks when she runs.
"Everyone helped me along the way. There's so much
support for survivors."

There will be a new breast cancer survivor champion for
the first time in six years at Saturday's North Texas
Komen Race for the Cure. Elizabeth
Jekot of Richardson captured an unprecedented six consecutive
titles from 2004 through last June. However,
she had hip replacement surgery last month and won't be
racing.
